Recommendation on Philppines

about 1 year ago about Philippines

I am really keen on visiting the Philippines but cannot find too much in terms of recommendations on the Internet. I will be traveling alone and enjoy beaches, lively nightlife, nice food and meeting people.
I would have thought 2 or 3 days in Manila, a few days in Cebu but I really am open to any suggestions

I recommend going to Palawan. It has the some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Boracay is another island with a beautiful beach and fun nightlife. about 1 year ago

There's a great boat tour through the Palawan Islands called TAO https://www.taophilippines.com/. It's really rustic but you sail all day, go snorkeling, wander around small islands, then sleep in huts along the beach. Great experience!

Manila, esp Makati, has bars restaurants, clubs, etc like any big city. And Cebu is like a more laid back and safer version of Manila. If you like lechon (roast pork) there's a good article at https://peaktan.com/best-lechon-cebu-city/ with great lechon places in Cebu.

On the south side of Cebu there is whale shark snorkeling in Oslob which some feel is unethical. It is a bit like being in an aquarium and only the smallest whale sharks go there to feed. Also right near there is an amazing experience of swimming with thousands of sardines in Moalboal - one of the highlights of our trip to the Philippines.

Also lots of small little bars in these areas with lots of tourists and some locals. Still fun. You'll have a great time!

And keep in mind that Boracay is closed for a while since there have been so many tourists that the government is letting the area rehabilitate for a bit. Good luck and safe travels! about 1 year ago
