There are travel safety warnings for eastern Mindanao including the province of Surigao del Norte, but it's generally considered that the island is well away from the trouble spots.
Surigao is a particularly laid back experience, with violent crime non-existent and petty crime pretty low. Exercise the usual caution with belongings.
Throughout the Philippines, the tourist resort areas are generally much safer than other regions.

Siargao should be safe for anyone who will travel there. Its a tourist destination and thus security is not really an issue. Enjoy over 4 years ago

It's pretty safe in Siargao, It's a chill island with very warm and helpful locals. There could be lots of tourists, too, depending on the season of your visit. I wouldn't be worried about dangerous diseases, but do bring a mosquito repellant. Other than that, it's safe and I'm quite sure you'll have tons of fun. over 4 years ago
