I am a journalism student and I have the whole month of December as a vacation, so I thought travelling would be fun. Getting paid for the job is optional. :D

Where was it I read this, "Your dream job does not exist (yet). You have to create it." The same goes for travel writing or feature writing. You have to have a portfolio you can show and you also have to pound the pavement. In digital terms, the former would mean you've got a decent blog and the latter would mean you've done enough online sleuthing to identify who's who and reach them.

On a closing note, you could also create a net presence for yourself and bypass the traditional media. Seek out allied websites, put in your two cents worth with leadbacks to your own blog. You'll get your paying gigs soon enough. Meanwhile, start writing! Good luck! over 7 years ago
