    The Inca Trail closes for one week in February every year for maintenance. That coincides with peru's summer - and the very wet season in the Andes, so it's not the ideal time to go.
    Lots of people say May is best - after the wet season but before the hordes of tourists descend on the place. June to August is peak tourist season.

    Yes, the Inca Trail is closed Feb and the rainy season comes to an end in March. But you cannot travel across the Salt Flats in Bolivia until April and then May.
    Then it becomes cold, although it is mostly dry. June, July, August are when the tourists come from the northern hemisphere.
