Hi travellers

I am a first time visitor to South America and after a Galapagos tour I have 5 days to travel from Quito to Lima. I have been doing a good deal of reading and research but find myself no closer to deciding between overland travel via (many) buses, or a flight for this leg of the journey.

I don't want to miss a valuable part of the travel experience, and have no aversion to bus travel (36hrs+ of it, good lord!) if stops and adventures would be possible along the way, but if the timeframe is tight and I'd be spending all my time at bus stations then I would rather fly and enjoy the two cities. As it stands, I have 2 days in Quito and 1 day in Lima.

I'd be incredibly grateful for any advice or suggestions from those who've travelled the path before.

Kind regards

definately plane, not much to see along the way. Spend the extra time seeing Cuzco and Macchu Picchu over 8 years ago

Agree with above, definitely fly. I did the same leg other way, and did it flying. There's too much to see in Lima and environs to spend it on a bus. over 8 years ago
