Looking at doing a quick holiday in Central America that's easy to get to from San Francisco. Is Panama a reasonable destination for a week?

Panama is an up and coming destination. There are several hotels and all inclusive resorts located about 2 hours from the Panama City airport. You could stay in the city near the Panama Canal and then go down to this area. I highly recommend visiting El Valle. There are a number of eco tours to do also. over 9 years ago

My wife and I spent a week in Panama - we spent about 4 days in Bocas Del Toro - great Island area in the north east with Amazing beaches, cool place to lay back a bit. afterwards we went to the "highlands" in the north west- great rain forests and other atractions around Boquete and Cerro Punta over 9 years ago

If you only have one week, I would spend the first and last day in the old town of Panama City, Casco Viejo, and then head over to Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean side. There is too much to do here, so read on in our Top Spots in Panama page: www.travelintense.com/eco-travel-destinations/panama over 5 years ago
