We are spending two weeks in Panama in January. We would like to see both the Pacific and the Caribbean sides while we are there. We are interested in good snorkeling, but prefer less touristy destinations. Is Bocas Del Toro worth checking out? Any thoughts on the Pearl Islands in the Pacific? Thanks!
Bocas del Toro is a unique place. A very relaxed, backpacker kind of vibe. Lots of great day trips - sailing to Dolphin Bay, snorkelling, diving, surfing. Surprising extent of restaurants to choose from. I find the town of Bocas quite dirty - litter mostly. People are very nice. over 4 years ago
Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean side of Panama is great for snorkeling, diving, surfing, just relaxing on the beach and watching wildlife (sloths, poisson dart frogs, etc.). We've been there already a couple of times and written a little guide on what to do there: www.travelintense.com/bocas-del-toro.
The best places to stay are Al Natural resort www.travelintense.com/al-natural-resort and La Loma lodge www.thejunglelodge.com. over 2 years ago
