    if you are going in summer i would agree with Nikki and say Jan to Feb, the ocean and lakes are warm and the climate generally sits between 18-28 deg celsius in most parts of the country during the day.
    In winter (especially if you are planning to visit the ski resorts) go in August... its the middle of the winter season and snow can be seen on most peaks in the south island and on a select amount of higher hills in the north. The snow cap peaks make for some amazing photos but can make travel a bit hazardous especially during our winter storms in the south island. over 6 years ago

    Depends what you like to do......I was there November, expecting warm weather, but it was early spring, wet and cold many days. When I go again, definitely go January :) over 6 years ago
