    Pretty straightforward actually Gareth. Hitchhikers are a pretty familiar sight on the roads here, usually on the outskirts of town. Usual rules and courtesies apply, and you need to use your instincts to get the right kind of rides. about 9 years ago

    Sooo easy and sooo fun! People are amazing. I hitchhiked from Auckland to Queenstown and only once waited longer than 10 minutes for a lift. I met great people who ever offered me work, a place to stay, a meal and even a free tattoo! LOL I would not travel NZ any other way than by thumb just because of the amazing people and information that you just would not get otherwise. :) over 8 years ago
