    What are your interests?

Wellington is basically the cultural centre: Te Papa, our national museum, is definitely worth a look particularly on a wet day, and there is often good theatre on.

If you're into adventure activities, Queenstown is the place to go for white-water rafting, bungee jumps, etc, as well as more sedate walks and the gondola to get an amazing view. And of course there is skiing in the winter.

Rotorua and Hanmer Springs for the hot springs! Fun any time of year, but Hanmer is especially good in winter, when you can relax in a steaming hot pool with the snow all around you and up the surrounding mountains.

Down south to Fiordland and Te Anau for amazing natural scenery, with a chance for sound cruises and visits to glow worm caves.

Um ... let me know what sort of a holiday you are after and I will try to narrow down some recommendations! almost 7 years ago

    Marie,
Thank you for so nice answer. We are brazilians but living in Argentina. We will travel in dicember (Chrismas in Auckland). I intend to rent a car and drive to the south, perhaps returning by plane. We'll spend one week in NZ. We are interested in some of everything, landscapes, adventure and culture.
    Thanks. almost 7 years ago
