I have dry eye syndrome and cannot wear contact lenses for more than a couple of hours a day. I use glasses to see distance, so it's a major medical issue (not to mention inconvenience) to not have eye glasses on my trip. They cost over $500 to replace here in NZ.

The car accident occurred over the weekend and was a no fault accident (black ice). I was riding passenger. New Zealand medical does not cover the cost of lost eye glasses (they did cover all emergency medical bills) and the driver's car insurance does not cover loss of passenger contents (only the driver's).

I know eye glasses are excluded for coverage as loss/damage to personal belongings and excluded from non-emergency coverage. But this is medical-related and emergency-medical related. Hoping it counts...
