Queenstown is quite touristy and seems to attract a lot of the younger crowd looking for work and a decent social scene and is the liveliest place I have seen. Depends how long you have. Get a car if you can and start at the top of south island and drive around and through to see the main points of interest - there aren't so many roads to chose from and places of interest are well marked and you will find hundreds of options on the way, almost 5 years ago
NZ has got the best of nature. I would highly suggest you to enjoy the natures goodness.I use a mobile app that tell me about the attractions, free activities, places to visit and so much more.
