    Hi Ev, there's already been loads written about hiring Campers in NZ - use the search or Browse NZ on the iPad app to skim through. No doubt, Campers are very popular in NZ and there's a lot of tourism infrastructure to cater to them. I've done two camper trips and will certainly do it again in the future. If not a camper, rent a car. The landscape and countryside is so amazing you need to be able to get to the best - and most remote - places at your own pace. over 7 years ago

    I totally agree. Am currently doing South Island tour by car and it is stunningly beautiful. Hostels are well signposted and if not in high season you can usually just turn up and get a room on arrival which gives you total freedom. Navigation couldn't be easier and places of interest are well marked. over 7 years ago

    get a car, campers are way too expensive! A Wagon's just as good and you can sleep in it :) about 7 years ago

    Hi there! My husband and I rented a car. We did the North Island by driving. The South Island we traveled by train and plane. Happy travels we love NZ! about 7 years ago
