I know this is a vague question, but although I am certain that I want to travel to NZ and work there, I'm struggling to decide where. I don't want to choose a place without knowing why I chose it. I would like to meet people from NZ, (not people from the UK!!) because I will be there over Christmas and wouldn't like to be alone the whole time. Things like that, you know? (: But i'm determined to go it alone. If anyone around about my age (20) could tell me where, in their opinion, would be best to visit (and work) I would really appreciate it, so much! Thank you (:

Hi Elaine, NZ is incredibly friendly and you'll have an amazing experience! Try looking at: http://www.seasonalwork.co.nz to see what's available around Christmas time. The first intake for the ski resorts is usually done around April/May. One thing to remember is that there's often casual work in tourism areas, like Queenstown, so it's easier to find... but you'll also be mixing with other Brits (and Canadians, Americans, Aussies, Europeans etc etc etc) ;-) over 6 years ago

New Zealand is such a friendly place, I am sure you will be welcomed wherever you go.

If you have some ski skills - why not consider Queenstown in June/July/August? As Christy suggests, there are a lot of tourists in Peak season which can either be a bonus of a pain in the butt.

Auckland is also another fun place to be, a lot of nightlife, cafes, parks and friendly people. about 6 years ago

Travel to South Island on the Magic Bus, that is where all the single people I met on my trip two years ago travelled on. They went to places like the West Coast, Franz Joseph Glacier, Fox Glacier, Queenstown and so on. It is very safe their I believe. I travelled as a single woman in my 40's and I always felt safe :) Have an awesome trip. about 6 years ago
