    De Pijp is one of the most characteristic neighborhoods in Amsterdam, and perhaps after De Jordaan, I'd highly recommend staying there.

    It's fairly close to the city center at about a 20 minute walk, but there are plenty of trams and buses servicing the area as well. Tram will take about 5 to 10 minutes getting to the city center (depending on where in De Pijp you are).

    There are a lot of restaurants and eateries, ranging from the downright awful to very good. However, the area is perhaps not best known for its nightlife. To go out, you'd probably have a better chance going into the center. over 8 years ago
