I am just curious what is the cheapest and safest way to travel in those countries? I am also a little confused about what kind of train tickets to invest in for traveling in between the three countries and what the train rules are. I heard for Germany you need to reserve a seat on train, but once you reserve your seat online how do you buy the actual train ticket?

Well, the trains are comfortable but if you're looking for cheapest, look for bus companies. Be aware though that this will take much more time. Trains are especially expensive if they're international, even between countries such as Belgium and Netherlands. For the Netherlands, you need to reserve a ticket only in international trains, on most domestic there are no assigned seats. You can buy your international ticket online or at a counter. Domestic tickets are sold from self-service machines on each station, very easy to use. almost 4 years ago
