Follow the signs in the airport terminal to the train station. In the terminal, there are large lockers in which you can store unneeded luggage that you won't have to haul around Take the train to Centraal Station to downtown Amsterdam. There is SO much to see and do, depends on your tastes, likes and dislikes (museums, cafes, restaurants, red light district, canals, rent a bike, pot shops, etc.). All within walking distance. My layover was only 7 hours so I cannot vouch for hotels, but check out tripadvisor for ratings and reviews. Enjoy! Well worth it. over 4 years ago

There is an Ibis and budget ibis hotels very close to the airport. They also have a shuttle service to get you back and forth. The airport has a train station for an easy trip to the city center. Amsterdam has great museums and canal boat cruises. If you are there when the Keukenhof gardens are open it is very worthwhile. over 4 years ago
