The flying pig hostels are the BEST!!! The best is downtown if you want to do a lot in the city but uptown is good and the beach is a lot of fun too! They run a shuttle between their hostels too. almost 9 years ago

Cocomama hostel is awesome. Not in the nasty touristy downtown part of Amsterdam but in upscale part of the city centre near de Pijp and Museumsquare, but close enough to the Red Light district to bike there in 10 minutes. Homey feel, cool staff, in-house kitchen to make your own meals. In the Red Light district can recommend St. Christopher's and the Bulldog but who really wants to spend every day in the red light district? almost 9 years ago
