I have a Lands End Snowpac 700 down jacket- •Ultra-light nylon shell with water-resistant DriOff™ finish
•700 fill power down that's warm and ultra lightweight
•Packs into its own pocket
•Zip-front with inner storm shield
•TEMPERATURE RATING - WARMER: -10° to 15° Fahrenheit

as well as a Northface Lightspeed waterproof
Introducing a new Summit Series® hard shell, the Lightspeed Jacket is made from waterproof, breathable, seam sealed HyVent® Alpha fabric that’s designed and tested to ensure the best possible durability and function in demanding climates. Designed with a fully adjustable hood, harness-compatible, weather-resistant zips, and cinch-cords at the hood, waist and hem, you’ll stay dry in the worst of downpours.

as well as a fleece and thermals. I was thinking that wearing all of them in the really cold bits would probably be adequate. Any suggestions or comments?or should I get a sturdier/warmer down jacket?

I was in Nepal in March 20 years ago, up around Annapurna and it dropped to -25. I had fleece, down jackets, clothes and a good sleeping bag and I was still cold! Nepali porters were out there in thongs.

If in doubt, take something warmer. Better to carry it and not need it than be cold over 9 years ago
