In particular Nepal, volunteer tourism is said to have negative impact on the local community and I am wondering how one determines such initiatives (with good intentions). Thank you!

    Lots of different views to this topic, which can get quite heated! One possible good source for you is http://voluntourismgal.wordpress.com/ where she posts perspectives, trip ideas and operators. She was in Nepal this last year too, so she may have posted details of that trip too. Have a look and do a search around for Nepal information. There is also a list of other sustainable and voluntourism bloggers/websites there. almost 10 years ago

    thank you for the question , we have now days lots of volunteer organization and also the travel agent who can deal with quires. As im also working in Volunteer Organization as Secretory General and at the same time im doing Internship in Travel Agency i can enlighten you regarding your volunteer tourism and other Quires. with you statement that Volunteer tourism is said to have negative impact on local communities i cannot say its totally wrong but still Nepal and The people of Nepal are always ready to welcome and thank the people like you how have good intention to Visit Nepal. you and all are always welcome in Nepal , if anything i can do from my side then mail me on deburush@gmail.com or on the same Nomad
