Last year in Dec was recorded + 4 degree as lowest temperature in Kathmandu valley, if you are going to mountain for trekking then will be minus.... where you are going to visit, just Kathmandu or to trekking too.

It is reasonably cold in Dec in Kathmandu, very bearable, We trekked to Annapurna Base Camp in last Dec, it was not that much cold as people think of it and had a beautiful new year eve in Pokhara at the end of our trip! You are welcome to Nepal over 7 years ago

What would be the best kind of clothing to wear whilst trekking in this area in December? about 6 years ago

We're there right now. In the middle of the day a t-shirt, jeans and sweater are warm enough and many people are still walking around in shorts and thongs (flip flops). The morning and evening have been quite cold and so we have needed a beanie, scarf and warm jacket when walking around the streets our sitting out side in a cafe for breakfast or dinner.
It is certainly not bitterly cold and unbearable, it's just ... well, I would say wintery. about 6 years ago -
Oh and don't stress too much about not bringing enough warm clothing. If you need something extra when you arrive there are plenty, and I really do mean PLENTY, of shops selling warm outdoor gear. Everything from cheap copies to the expensive real deal. You can't walk down any street in Thamel without passing at least 3 or 4 stores selling outdoor gear or woollen clothing. about 6 years ago
