I have read that bus/ road travel is dangerous in Nepal andd the flights sound a bit risky too! So on balance i want to leave Kathmandu for a couple of days in Pokhara 11th -15th feb and wondered which mode of transport people recommend safety being a priority!

I have travelled by bus two months ago and it was perfectly safe and quick too. I bought the ticket in an agency the day before. If you need a guide for a trek from Pokhara, let me know, mine was excellent. over 6 years ago

My friend and i recently travelled by bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara -a 6 hour journey that took 12!! It was a crazy and dangerous ride, with sheer cliffs very close, and busses overtaking busses.. 7 ambulances passed us during the journey. We were both terrified and opted to fly back... less than a 45minute plane ride.. which was on time, professional and hassle free. I would not recommend travelling by bus ever if you have the option of flying. We wish we knew this option existed before but we weren't told by our trekking company. It was not expensive. Drivers are crazy in Nepal. They assume oncoming traffic will get out of their way even on blind corners. 8 months ago
