I am researching the best way to travel between Madrid, Rabat and Rome. Any combination between Rabat and Rome is acceptable; it does not have to be direct.
I can get RyanAir in Tangier but what's the travel like from Tangier to Rabat?

What other forms of travel options/information do I have for getting in/out of Morocco? Could I skip Rabat and stay in Tangier and still satisfy my Morocco craving?

You can easily take a train or bus from Tangier to Rabat if you're flying in there on RyanAir. I would recommend not just staying in Tangier but venturing further south and at the least visiting Marakkech. You can take an overnight train from Tangier to there.

You can cross the Straits of Gibralter by ferry from Spain at Algeciras. I personally rode a train from all three towns that you mentioned and crossed over via ferry. over 7 years ago

Tangier is a beautiful city, likewise for Rabat. But if you are going to Morocco go to Marrakech!! Lots of European airlines fly there. over 6 years ago
