Is it safe for 2 middle aged women to travel in Morocco independently or should we sign up for a tour of some kind? Thank you

Morocco is generally safe if you use the usual precautions. Have a look at some of my other answers to similar questions here:

I have traveled around the major cities with a few friends (just girls) with no problems. I am in my late 20's. Moroccans are generally really great people. Have fun! almost 8 years ago

I lived in Morocco until very recently, in a very conservative city (Taroudannt) and had absolutely no problems whatsoever (I'm 49). I felt completely safe at all times. I stayed in Essaouira with no problems too. However, in Marrakech, I felt incredibly vulnerable - so much so that I would not go out at night, not even with my partner!
Hope you have a great time, and if you're around Agadir and need a trustworthy guide, do send me a message, and I'll give you my friend's number & email. :-) almost 8 years agoAnswered by Nicole Rossetti le Strange viaWorldNomads.com

I traveled with two other women from Tangier to Chefchouen to Fez and beyond without a tour. We had a great time. The male vendors are aggressive but other than that we had no issues. We are all 50+ years. almost 8 years ago

As others have said - yes it is very safe. One thing you might like to consider is that to get to some of the really special places in Morocco - and there are a lot of them hidden away - it can be worth organising an personalised tour - where you have your own driver and guide. Have a look at www.fescooking.com to get an idea of different places to visit or their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fes-Cooking-Cultural-Tours/166822340132621?ref=hl almost 8 years ago

If you intend to stick to the common places it will be ok but to visit the mosques and tiny market areas a guide would be better. You would be better off hiring a reputable guide by the day. I did travel by train and had no problem
But chickened out of the alleyways in Fez since it did not seem wise to go any further in alone. almost 8 years agoAnswered by cloudie viaAsk a Nomad iPad app
