    Horse! Motorbike works well to, just don't breakdown... Repair shops are few and far between! Not many roads for a country that size. A good four wheeler works, but again it should be in good shape.... about 9 years ago

    The most accessible cross country transport in Mongolia is minibus. You can head west from Ulaanbaatar towards Altai, Khovd and as far as Olgii. I've driven solo a couple of times, but it can be a bureaucratic nightmare to get your own vehicle into the country, and it's pretty dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. about 9 years ago

    If you want to see anything off of the 2 main roads in the country, then you will need either your own vehicle or to take a tour in a vehicle. Many companies and hotels in UB offer jeep/van small group tours through the gobi, steppes, and other remote regions of the country. There are no roads in these areas, nor public transportation. over 8 years ago
