Mercado San Juan de Dios is great for a pure "Mexican shopping experience". Also, Plaza Andares is great for hanging out and having a fancier lunch/dinner. over 6 years ago

Guadajara is a very big city and there is a lot to do, I recomend you to start a saturday in Chapultepec, eating early in " la nacional" a nice and trendy restaurant, then go to la cathedral and wonder around, there is a lot of history and you can easily get a tour Guide.
Then go to san Juan de dios, thesis a huge market full of Mexican stuff ( don't go to late).
Maybe take a calandra back to Chapultepec at night, it's a horse ride very traditional ( you will not be ON the horse).
Chapultepec is a cultural corridor at night and there is a lot to see a many nice places to party.
