HAVE to go to Dolphin Discovery. We did the big pkg, totally worth it. The longest program was only ~2hrs, but you can spend the day there, pools, bars, buffet, all included in your ticket. We stayed on Isla, at Privileges, the main road close to Captain Jax, had the best souvenir prices. 3 tshirts for less than the price of one in the main "shop" area a couple blocks away. When u get off the ferry, there are guys with carts offering to help u to your hotel, or destination, we were approached, and for just a tip, he hauled our luggage to our hotel, and handed us directly to the doorman&front desk people. Don't get suckered, it is a tourist place. FIND MANUEL "Manny". Can't remember the street but close to Privileges. He has the best golf carts, and tours, very friendly, honest, knowledgable. MOSTLY one-ways. So be careful if u get a cart, we saw (and laughed at lots of people turning around in the streets) they drive crazy, so be aware. You can walk everywhere on Isla, we got a taxi for $5 from one end to the other, and got a mini tour and history on the way. TIP your doorman, waiters, maids, etc. They don't make much, and your couple dollar tips here and there get you great service. Super safe, security was everywhere. Turtle farm, beaches, diving trips, dolphin discovery, and just walking thru the whole island was amazing. Still "Cancun experience" but less populated, more relaxed. I call it the adult Cancun. Still bars and parties, but less spring breakish. about 9 years ago

Isla Mujeres is a very small island. You will figure out what to do very fast and easy. The Playa Norte is an amazing beach. There is a very small Mayan pyramid for the fertility goddess. There is one point in the middle of the island that is very narrow and you can see the sea in both sides. On the island there are many smalls restaurants, Italian icecream and a park to swim with dolphins. It is very quiet, but you will find an environment to relax and enjoy. over 8 years ago
