    Sylprin, you're probably aware that recently the US State Department issued a revised travel warning for Mexico. In that warning it went through the popular tourist destinations city by city and named the good, the bad and the ugly.
    Actually they only named the bad and ugly.... if there were no particular safety concerns about a destination they simply said "no advisory is in effect" or "no warning is in effect". Which is what they said about Chiapas and San Christobel.

    That doesn't mean a place is guaranteed safe, bad stuff can happen anywhere anytime, so use the usual precautions and keep your sensible hat on your head, as you would travelling to any location.

    I went there a few years ago, stayed in San Christobel & even visited a Zaponista guerrilla camp & it was fine. Alot of the trouble is Mexico is more near the US border. over 6 years ago
