    Yes you can but are you aware that KL drives on the left. If your country also drives on the left then there is no problem. Just remember to carry your international driving license with you all the time as you may be checked at occasional checkpoints. Big problem if you do not have it with you. You can be fined on the spot, or taken to police headquarters. So avoid that major

    I've lived and driven in Malaysia for a year now and don't have a international license. Even at checkpoints, I've never needed it as my US license was fine. The only time you need to have an international license is for renting a car. over 6 years ago

    Some officers don't ask for it, but you still need it especially if there's an accident. A traffic ticket isn't the same as a traffic accident, thus not only you need it but bring along your valid driving license as well. The last thing you want away from home is to give them reasons to detain you unnecessarily. I lived in KL and Penang for 3 years, it could get messy and costly if they pick on you for lack of necessary documents on your part. over 6 years ago
