We are travelling through Kuala Lumpur on the start of our World Tour.

We are just staying for 36 hours and we want to see something unique from the place.
What parts of the city should we stay? How should we get around?

The distance within KL city and airport is around an hour time.

If you would like to cover most of the attractions, you can take the KL Hop On Hop Off bus ticket and stop at the attractions that you preferred. about 10 years ago

Depends which airport you are arriving at as to how to get into town. If you are arrving at KLIA (main Int'l) then there is a train all the way to the main railway station Sentral. If you are arriving at LCCT (Low Cost Terminal) then it costs only RM9 to take the Red Bus to Sentral ... swap betwen terminals is regular (and low cost) to get the cheaper deal.
Stay right in the center of KL at somewhere like Istana, very central, very adequate, good service - many hotels are bookable through somewhere like Agoda.com / prices from very little to whatever you want to pay.
Stay anywhere, but make sure you have a drink in the Bar at Traders .. it is adjacent to a park across from the twin towers, you can sit and frame your shots perfectly and enjoy the view.
Chinatown, food stalls, it's a great place. KL still has a heart and its soul. about 10 years ago
