I wish to travel to Madagascar in relation to my job. Is there any particular precautionary measures to be taken before the journey? Haw is the political and social security of the zone?

it is Africa and has many of the usual African health problems; malaria, rabies, dengue fever, rift valley fever and occasional outbreaks of cholera, bubonic plague and TB, so get a thorough medical check up and immunisation schedule before you go.

politically-speaking it's a bit topsy-turvy. A coup and an attempted coup in 2010, it remains volatile. In fact police in the capital tear gassed a crowd of opposition supports just this week (Tuesday Jann 17th), so avoid public gatherings.
The political turmoil has had economic consequences, so unemployment is high as is the poverty rate, consequently there's been an increase in crime. Hopefully this new government can get things under control and return some stability.
Sounds like an amazing place though. be sure to let us know about your stay (maybe start a journal on worldnomads.com).
