Sarah, obviously don't go to Tripoli, and generally stay away from the far south close to the border with Israel. South of the Litani River (especially areas bordering Israel) is a highly militarised and volatile area. Rocket launches occasionally occur, provoking retaliatory attacks within Lebanon.
Other than that Lebanon is regaining some of the lustre of its past, when it was known as the Paris of the Mediterranean.
If you MUST go to Tripoli, speak to your travel insurer about coverage.
