Ive been to most of the main ones listed in guidebooks: does anyone have any special favourites?

    It seems like you could get a day bus pass as you get on a city bus and just see them at your leisure, if you have time. I found the bus routes to be very convenient and easy to understand. We didn't plan ahead at all and just tried to efficiently hit temples in a loop. almost 7 years ago

    When I was there, the ones that really stood out for me were:

    Kinkaku-ji (Which is probably the most famous in Kyoto, and for good reason)

    and

    Which has some incredible gates. (The main temple is nice but the gates are something else) We were there during a snowy Cherry Blossom season and it was absolutely amazing.
