Autumn in japan

about 6 years ago about Japan

I plan to visit japan this September. This will be my first time go to Japan. So, maybe a little important tips will be useful to me. Besides, can anybody recommend to me which place i MUST go p at japan to get lovely falling scenery, if any. Is it expensive to hike Mt. Fuji ?

Having just done such a trip, I can offer some suggestions. Have a look at my photos on flickr for some ideas: www.flickr.com/photos/simonmonk/

    My suggestions would be:

    - Kyoto (of course!) allow as much time as you can. It'll leave you speechless at that time of year. If you want any suggestions on temples, just ask but prepared for it to be crowded!

    - I always love the tiny island of Miyajima just south of Hiroshima. Get up early and go hiking.

    - go all the way south to Sakurajima for something different. It looks a long way but you'll be travelling by Shinkansen so that's nothing.

    - on the Japan sea side, try Kanazawa and find the ninja temple there plus the street of goldsmiths.

So, if you've now had enough of temples and autumn leaves, head back to Tokyo for some plain weirdness. Crazy place but some think its cool. about 6 years ago

Oh, and buy your Japan Rail Pass BEFORE you arrive - it'll save you thousands getting around. Literally. about 6 years ago
