Big luggage in bullet train

almost 7 years ago about Tokyo, Japan

Are we able to take our big luggage in the bullet train (with our JR pass) between narita airport and the train station in Yokohama ? If not in the ordinary pass maybe in the Green type pass?

Um, the bullet train doesn't go from Narita to Yokohama, that's probably the Narita Express and you'll generally find quite a few people with significant luggage so not to worry.

However, if you are travelling around Japan on a JR pass (which is fantastic value BTW) using Shinkansen, there isn't much room for luggage. Overhead is only suitable for medium bags at best and if you are lucky you might find a spot behind the seats at the end of each carriage.

Finally, the Shinkansen don't hang around at stations. When they announce they are about to arrive at ... Get to the doors! By my reckoning, they only stop for 20-30 secs and then they are off again.

Not that I'm complaining; I reckon the Shinkansen are one of the wonders of the modern world.
