Hello, I'm going to Italy and would like to know if it is possible to know Rome in a day or if I should stay more days?

  • 3-4 days is better. Vatican museums have longe queue. Check if Colosseum is open by night. Spanish steps and piazza navona (look at the legend about the statue in the fountain) and the pantheon. On sunday you can also try to go to porta portese market (be aware of pickpockets). mucefali over 9 years ago

I think it's better to stays 3 days. there are too many things to see.
For example , to visit st. Peter cathedral and Cappella Sistina it will take about 3 hours.
Colosseo, Pantheon, all the beautiful museum. Eating outside in trastevere.
Enjoy your stay. over 9 years ago

Not recommended. Better not go at all :(
Take your time to go around, not just the touristic sites, the old streets, the markets, the hidden restaurants, and of course the gelateria!!!!!! over 9 years ago

No, you will miss lots of things. If you can't spend more days visit Coloseum, Roman Forum, saint peters cathedral and in the evening Piazza Navona, Fontana di Trevi and chill out at the Spanish steps. I did it in just one day so it's possible, but you will have limited time to wander in such a beautiful city. over 9 years ago

I personally suggest 3 days minimum to go round all the 'important' places. I managed to do it in that timeframe but it was quite tiring to be honest. However, I did go 3 times to Rome and I love it so take some time to go around rather than rushing from one place to another :) over 9 years ago

I spent there 7 days and it wasn't enough. However, if you have only 1 day, go there, get the hop off-hop on bus for the day, and you will have a flavour of this great city! Don't miss the opportunity, unless you already know that you will have a new opportunity to visit Rome in the near future! Enjoy it! over 9 years ago
