Simple answer...its very very hard to go wrong. You'll be very unlucky if you have a bad meal in Rome - the Italians take pride in their cuisine! Although be prepared for a lot less toppings on your pizza. (Which is actually the proper way to eat pizza) They like to keep it minimal - oh, and you usually have to cut it yourself...But take a stroll around some of the main plazas and you really can't go wrong.

I like following the locals into the cafes and restaurants they use. It's a bit intimidating because the wait staff are busy and don't really have time for tourists, but if you can muster some basic Italian language and order with confidence it's a great experience. The ordering system can be a bit weird too. In some places you order at the counter then take your table, in others its table service. Just stand and watch for a few minutes to work it out then go for it! over 7 years agoAnswered by Lucky via WorldNomads.com
