    You can use a cell phone, however not all cell phones work when traveling abroad. You need to make sure your phone is compatible with the cell service in Italy. over 6 years ago

    Yes, usually, but as the last responder said you have to make sure your phone works. Call you provider and get an international plan. Most will turn it on for just a set period while you are away. And be careful with text and email and maps, etc. Data is expensive. over 6 years ago

    If it has gsm capabilities, an you've activated the necessary features with your provider, yes. IE: I have a Verizon dual mode world phone with roaming and sim activated and it works all throughout Europe...only a fe of Verizon's phones fit the bill though. Most carriers will rent you a phone on your current number, if yours can't work where you're going over 6 years ago

    Yes,I used a US cell phone in Rome, Italy.But they charged me very high amount of roaming costs.So,I have unlocked it using the unlock code.I got this code at low cost from the site Prounlocking.com . almost 5 years ago
