    Santa Maria di Leuca

Located on the coast where the waters of the Ionian and Adriatic Seas meet is Santa Maria di Leuca. Holidays in Puglia that take you to this southern tip will immerse you in a world of historic luxury, as attested to by the stunning villas here. There is plenty to see and do, quite apart from lazing on the beaches - although that's an enticing option. The area has been mentioned throughout history, and there is a beautiful lighthouse that was built in the 1800s on the site of a 16th century watchtower. In addition, there is a manmade waterfall that is well worth seeing. It was begun in the mid 1800s and was only completed near the halfway mark of the 1900s. about 3 years ago
