Would like to know of good accommodations. Open to hotels or b&b! Price and locality a factor!
Also. Any prepaid SIM cards (data plans) that can be used around Italy? Perhaps for Paris too?
I stayed here on my first trip to Venice http://www.hotelarlecchino.com/location.htm when the Canadian $ was brutal against the Euro. Price was reasonable - for Venice.
I liked it because it was super easy to find, and you could walk from where the airport bus dropped you off (I didn't want to negotiate finding my way through the maze of Venice after a red eye flight). The hotel was clean and relatively quiet, service was friendly, a not bad breakfast was included. The biggest problem was that there were no screens on the windows and the mosquitoes attacked one night.
If I were going back, I would try to see if I could rent an apartment.
I also have some Venice resto recs in the article attached to this link (scroll down) : http://traveleater.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/non-tourist-venice/ over 7 years ago
