You dont mention how you are getting around, and also your start/finish points, but I would suggest:

    Venice
    Cinque Terre
    Scilly
    Florence
Milan for shopping and people watching
Staying at farms along the way about 5 years ago

Capri, Rome is lovely, Food was good in Nalples. We loved Rome the best and wish we had given it more time. We stayed in the middle of Rome for 120 E a night close to trains/metro. I found you should dress modestly the men are very aggresive if you wear loud clothes. Enjoy my favorite country. about 5 years ago

Live with the locals in the Cinque Terra for at least 5 days! This is real Italian Village life! I like Vernassa, my sis likes Rio Maggorie Sept is great for the wine harvest. You can walk from village to village along the Via Amore, or you can take the boat to each village, and you can take the local train. ENJOY! about 5 years ago
