Where to stay in Sardinia?

Relying on transport, arriving by plane, where would you recommend the best place to stay in Cagliari for upwards of 10 days. We are wanting a beach holiday, with the option of visiting different towns, sightseeing, taking photos etc in early June..... thankyou
