I would like to take my 3 teenage kids to Italy for a month this summer. I would like to rent a house and immerse in the local culture, and walk or take public transportation. With 3 teenagers it can get crazy expensive. Any suggestions?
Lucky you...although not sure about the kids! Italy is quite expensive, you don't say where you're staying, but if its self catering there loads of small stores to buy your food. You could visit Italia in Miniature near Rimimi, San Marino which is nearby. We loved Senigellia, fab beach and lovely town with castle etc. Venice was lovely, stay just outside and bus in or stay on the island of Lido. Good train links to most lge towns so visit Rome (watch for pickpockets, I had my purse lifted), from there, train to Pompeii and then Sorrento. Oh, forgot to mention, trains are extremely inexpensive so choose a base and travel around. I'm sooooo envious having travelled around Italy this year. almost 6 years ago
