Will be in Rome with the family around end of October next year, kids will be 8, 6 and 4...we'll have about 5 days. Looking for advice on budget family friendly options for accommodation and food preferably walking distance from some of the major sights or public transport

    I definitely agree that travelling with children you should better avoid public transport and ... transport at all, because traffic is crazy in Rome.
    I selected for you some of the small family hotel in the centre of Rome I know, in a walking distance from the main sightseeing:

    http://www.hotelborromeo.com - located in via Cavour, a really central street with shops, restaurants and cafés in a walking distance even from the Termini train station;

    http://www.hotelraffaello.it - right behind Santa Maria Maggiore church and close to the station. Your children will be delighted to choose between 5 different type of pillow.

    Thanks for the answers so far...The suggestions look great! The one key point I didn't mention is that there will be 5 of us all together, 2 adults and our three daughters, thanks! about 6 years ago

    We're about to hit Rome with our two boys of the same age. We use http://www.airbnb.com for accommodation. (more specifically https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/28287)

    Not sure what we'll be doing but I'll let you know. about 6 years ago
