Check online promotions http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=ad1ce14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD or here: http://www.italotreno.it/EN/Pages/default.aspx
Normally Italo has better offers then Trenitalia but it really depends on single days/trips so better check both over 8 years agoAnswered by Gaetano Palmiotto viaWorldNomads.com

Train is the best way to get around. I prebooked my train travel through my travel agent. You need to book your seat as well for regional trains... And don't forget to validate your ticket at he train station before you get on the train. You just put your ticket in the machine and it prints a validation onto it. I found train travel really easy. You have different classes of train. Second class means you don't get a glass of free wine and a newspaper. Second class was comfortable and clean. Regional tains are pretty reliable from what I experienced. over 8 years ago
