Heading there in October with the family to explore a region I've never been to. Any suggestions?

Hi, one of the most famous attractions is the town Alberobello, with the typical buildings named "trulli". Then you should visit Castel del Monte in Andria. Sea towns like Gallipoli or Otranto are sure worth a visit, and if the weather's good you may even have a chance to bathe.
Then I also suggest you visit Bari and the Gargano natural park about 8 years ago

Alberobello is amazing, and unlike anything you will see anywhere else. If you haven't organised accommodation yet, you might like to stay in one of the trulli for a unique experience. Ostuni is also something different, a white-washed village near alberobello. Lecce is also a very interesting city full of interesting churches and monuments. Not to be missed: ALBEROBELLO and its Trulli; CASTELLANETA Grotte; the SALENTO beaches (Santa Maria di Leuca, Gallipoli etc); OSTUNI, the white town; LECCE, baroque city center; BARI, the capital; the GARGANO rough coastline; ISOLE TREMITI just off the coast.
Stock up with local olive oil and dont miss the mozzarella, try burrata! almost 8 years ago
