Driving is quite manageable keeping in mind the farther south you go, the crazier the traffic gets. You diffinently want to get off the autostrada and drive through the countryside. Jave a really good gps as it is easy to get lost. almost 6 years ago

To visit Roma I would advise leaving the car, it's a city best visited on foot and with public transport (better to find s hotel/ accomodation near the A metro line) and finding a parking space is really difficult (I live in Rome and do not own a car :)) for the rest of the itinerary great by car, careful driving and parking in Naples (traffic has its own rules there and if you don't know the "local" rules it can be confusing) Veneto great by car (except Venice...of course) Tuscany great by car. Have fun! almost 6 years ago
