road trip around europe

hi, me and my partner are looking at going on a road trip from ireland to romania through france, switzerland, italy, slovenia, croatia, and serbia. we are then looking at coming back a more northerly route up into hungary slovakia austria and germany. i have considerable experience in the outdoors and we would like to camp as much as possible. i have been as far as switzerland by road on trips with my parents in the past but have never gone any further. we are looking at investing in a diesel 1.6l estate to get us around. i am wondering if you have any advice or resources that would be useful for our trip.
