There's a (not so) well worn tourist route in Iran: Tehran, Persepolis, Esfahan and Shiraz... stick to it and you should be fine. DO NOT go anywhere near the borders with Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. Don't take photographs of any military installations, and best to keep the lens pointed away from military personell, too. If you're not sure what that building is in the background, ask before pointing the camera.
Iran is November's feature destination on WorldNomads.com so there's a stack of info on the safety hub (www.safety.worldnomads.com).
Another "not safe" place in Iran is aboard any of those dodgy Russian-built aircraft.... catch the bus. about 9 years ago

And why do you say that Fouad? Most people I know who have been to Iran say it is the most remarkably hospitable place ... over 8 years ago
