mobile internet in Iran

over 6 years ago about Iran

Hi, I am travelling off the beaten track in Iran in a week's time (subject to ongoing visa fiasco). I want to have mobile internet access in order to, for example, do a blog/online journal from the WorldNomads site.

Does anyone have experience of mobile internet access in Iran?

In particular: who are the better providers, what is the cost, where do I go to get a dongle or similar, is it reliable, will I get access to the WN site, are many western sites blocked etc.....??

Many thanks

Yes, you can use mobile internet, I recommend you Iran-cell, just buy one Iran-cell sim-card from any mobile shop and ask them to active the Internet services.

Just done that and Iran is fantastic! Worth the visa effort.

We found many sites blocked and our phones also. Access to World Nomads was OK but only from wifi ...

    • Thanks. Is there much decent wifi? Are there many "internet cafes"? I Am doing Esfahan, Yazd, Shiraz triangle. Tim Tim Seal over 6 years ago
    • Yes, a few. Unfortunately net access is often restricted and you can't access many sites. Original Nomad over 6 years ago
